Where is the First Place You Will Drive to When the COVID-19 Lockdown is Lifted? We are just like you in that we are anxious for the day when we can walk out our front door and get in our vehicle and travel. Well, there are endless amounts of places you can drive to. All of this sitting around has us thinking: where is it you will drive to once it is safe to resume normal travel activities?
We have developed a list of a few of our favorite places and routes to travel in the San Francisco area and beyond.
Half Moon Bay Coastside California
Whether you want to eat at a nice oceanfront restaurant, stay the weekend in a nice beachside hotel, shop at a charming boutique shopping center, go on an adventure while horseback riding, or discover your love for arts and crafts, Half Moon Bay has you covered. Half Moon Bay has a restaurant selection you would not believe, from American to Indian cuisine. Moreover, superb coffee and ice cream shops are spread throughout the area. The area is also rich in events for the whole family during the year, such as the annual Devil’s Slide run, which consists of more than 1,000 individuals running and walking the area’s most scenic trails. Half Moon Bay is located southwest of San Francisco. For more info about visiting Half Moon Bay, click here.
Point Reyes National Seashore
Point Reyes National Seashore is often called a “natural sanctuary” and a “human haven.” This beautiful National Park offers open grasslands, forested ridges, hillsides, and thunderous but soothing ocean breakers crashing against the rocky headlands and beautiful sand beaches. Point Reyes offers Ranger-guided programs of the park, hike-in and boat-in backcountry camping for the whole family, and the park contains the Point Reyes Lighthouse, all of which have a large part in the history of Point Reyes. If you have not been to the Point Reyes National Seashore National Park, we recommend you take the whole family to experience this breathtaking park.
Big Sur and Bixby Bridge
Bixby Bridge is shown in the image above; this is Big Sur’s version of the Golden Gate, a world-renowned, must-see road trip spot. The bridge is a favorite attraction for photographers around the world, from professionals to people in search of the “perfect selfie.” The Bixby Bridge is one of the highest bridges of its kind in the world, sitting 260 feet above the canyon. Definitely one of our favorite places to drive through and visit even on a one-day road trip, the sights and sounds of this beautiful area make the drive worth it.
