Get Your Car Tailgate Ready
The regular National Football League season is in swing. That means tailgating is on!
If you live in the Bay area, chances are good that you’ll be catching a 49ers or Raiders game. Half the fun of being at the stadium is throwing that tailgate party before kickoff.
Is your vehicle set to be the best tailgate party in town?
Here are some tips to make sure you’re in the running:
Assemble a tailgate essentials kit
Make sure that you have a box or container that includes the tools of the day – a can opener, bottle opener, beverage coozies, tongs, a basting brush, plastic storage bags, aluminum foil and other can’t-live-without items. Be sure to stash any nonperishable food items such as spices, paper towels, anti-bacterial wipes, etc. Plan for the weather by packing that sunscreen and rain gear. Also, take your mom’s advice and leave a place cleaner than you found it. Pack those trash bags and be sure to dump your party aftermath into the trash recepticals.
Create Your Space
Don’t let any surface go to waste. Use every single part of your car from the dashboard to the roof to the hood and trunk. Use boxes to create a flat surface on your seats to hold some of the food if you can. Create more space by packing blankets and folding tables or tents, canopies and golf-style umbrellas that extend the perimeters of the party.
Decorate your ride with objects reflecting your theme. Be careful, however, not to use anything that will damage your paint. Bring items like lawn chairs, coolers or flags that show your allegiance to your team’s colors.
Get There Early To Stake Your Party Spot
You don’t want to be stuck with the spot no one else wants. Stake out the venue earlier during your anticipated game time to make sure you know the shady spots, any places where water pools in case game day is a soggy and have cover from the wind so you don’t have to hold everything down. You can’t send out the Bat signal but you do need to find a way to let people know where you’re located.
Bring Your “A” Game
Hook up the tunes, bust out your food specialties and have some game-style activities for folks to do. It’s all about the fun after all!
